Tuesday Night Showcase at Reverie
TREVOR JAMES MARRIN
A recent transplant to Minneapolis from the back roads of northern Wisconsin, Hanson's songs strike a chord somewhere deep in the hearts of all Midwestern-born travelers, teachers, drinkers and soul-seekers. A grounded folk powerhouse, she carries her country roots on her sleeve along with a timeless voice that recalls both Cline and Carlile.
In 2010, Hanson established new roots in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to attend college. She was lead singer and guitarist for Back Alley Blossoms, an all female folk/bluegrass band, until their final show at Winona, MN's Boats & Bluegrass in September 2013.
Setting out solo, Hanson spent the following year writing and recording her Self-Titled EP, released in the summer of 2015. A very introspective record on many counts, the EP was completed in a classic home recording space by friend and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Sachs.
Hanson performs extensively in the greater Upper-Midwest, both as a solo artist and collaborating with groups of accomplished players. She has shared the stage with Charlie Parr, William Elliot Whitmore, Communist Daughter, Possessed by Paul James, Now, Now, Cory Chisel, Chicago Farmer, and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades among many others.
