Reverie is a casual, all-day café. We serve delicious plant-based meals for lunch and dinner, a weekend brunch and local craft beer and full coffee bar. Reverie’s new brick and mortar is scheduled to open in November of 2019.
Position Details
Reverie Café + Bar seeks an experienced and enthusiastic kitchen staff member to join and help support our growing team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, especially line cooking, and is passionate about preparing unique and delicious plant-based foods.

Employee Type: Full Time Positions available; some part time will be considered.

Compensation: Competitive based on experience. Competitive wages plus tips equates to a higher than average hourly wage.

Benefits: None at this time.

Schedule: Flexible. Shifts may include mornings, daytimes, late evenings, and weekends. Must be able to work Sundays.
Responsibilities
-
Maintain the quality and consistency of Reverie’s food by checking freshness and following all recipes and processes as instructed.

Efficiently prepare and plate food for customers.

Manage multiple tickets and collaborate with other line cooks.

Prioritize kitchen needs, update preps lists, and communicate any items of significance to other kitchen staff members and Kitchen Manager.

Ensure that food orders are well presented and prepared in a timely fashion.

Occasionally run food to customers while keeping a pleasant demeanor.

Communicate with FOH about any specials or 86’d menu items.

Prepare and portion food items to be used on the line.

Receive food orders, stock and rotate food, notify Kitchen Manager of any foreseeable shortages.

Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item.

Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food costs.

Organize workspace to maximize efficiency.

Prepare the kitchen for subsequent shifts by following checklists, cleaning stations, updating prep lists, and communicating with incoming kitchen staff.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.

Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards.

Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor.

Maintain a positive attitude, actively problem solving with coworkers and supervisor.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications
-
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Experience working in a commercial kitchen, especially line experience.

Basic knowledge of plant-based foods and cooking techniques.

Good knife skills.

Basic knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.

Ability to read and follow specific recipes.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Ability to work quickly and cleanly
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience preparing plant-based foods in a commercial kitchen.

A high school diploma or equivalent.
-
Knowledge of plant-based baking methods. This is in qualifications also
-
Experience working as a barista and/or bartender.

Experience in a fast paced kitchen
Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

Must be able to work at a fast pace for long periods of time.

Ability to reach, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and frequently life and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in a kitchen environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, and noise.
